The start of a journey
The journey started in Munich with a Emirates flight to Dubai continuing to Icheon. After tiring 18 hours we took a bus from the airport to Anyang Station and there a train to Sungkyunkwan University campus.
Arriving at the campus we headed for dorm B, where we were supposed to stay, according to the emails we got. As we were asking for our keys the caretaker knew nothing about our arrival. After looking in the handbook we got, we read that the caretaker from dorm A should be able to give us our keys.
In dorm A, the caretaker was confused as the previous one. After one of the hardest conversations ever held, a nice guy (whose name I sadly forgot) helped us out. The helping hand figured out that dorm B was correct and in there, after a talk with the caretaker we found our names on the list and got our keys.
The room itself is quite nice. There are two beds, two wardrobes, two desks and two chairs, but no bedsheets, blankets or pillows.
So we headed out and found the most epic shop ever. It sold everything from soup to chairs. And of course the stuff we were looking for.
Afterwards we went out for food and went in to a random shop for some Bibimbap and rolls, which were very delicous. Leaving stuffed we went back to the dorm and for bed.
The next day started with administrative tasks. Afterwards we figured it would be good to go for some food and went into a shop for some Chicken Galbi. After a fine meal we headed for Seoul.
We went to the Namdaemun Market and had a look at one of the biggest markets I have ever seen.
After we headed for Dongdaemun History & Culture Park. Arriving there we saw, that half of it is stil under construction. The park itself contains a archeological site, a museum, a cafe and some other buildings. The museum displays the excavation process and the findings.
The things I learned after these first 24 hours in Seoul/Suwon: Trains are good but the distances are not to be underestimated, not everybody speaks as good english as you do and Korean food is awsome.
